about

Kristýna Hájková is a curator of contemporary art specialising in site specific installations and the institutional frameworks of contemporary artistic practice. Her work engages with the history of art in public space, examined within the broader cultural and political contexts of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. She currently serves as curator at the House of Art in České Budějovice.

She has curated exhibition projects for the International Festival 4+4 Days in Motion, the Prague City Gallery, the House of Arts in Ústí nad Labem, and the Emil Filla Gallery, among others; in keeping with her research interests, her practice is frequently situated in non-gallery and public environments. She is a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and contributed to the development of the scientific programme for the ICOM General Conference held in Prague in 2022.

Kristýna Hájková holds a degree in Arts Management from the University of Economics in Prague and a degree in Curatorial Studies from the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University. She is currently completing her doctoral studies in Visual Communication. Her extensive academic training underpins her research, which critically examines the boundaries of the term site specific and its manifestations within public space.
